![]() I am still working doing theatre festivals and film and TV and loving it. I have had a lot of amazing opportunities and experiences that wouldn’t have been possible had I not made great connections with my fellow classmates and Graduate class. I had made an impression on a few people I know because the artistic director for Obsidian was literally handing me opportunities like doing a Shakespeare workshop fully paid by the company and he forwarded my contact to a great little theatre company called Small Wooden shoe to work on a greek tragedy piece newly adapted called Antigone. In my time with each cast I learned about how to make connections and put myself out there to be seen and build relationships. I was stricken with luck once again as a few characters had dropped from the SIA’s following show of A Midsummer Nights Dream and I worked on that show which thankfully was a comedy. Partying was tamer and more enjoyable, not quite as desperate as it had begun. Romeo and Juliet was remounted and I was back at it and enjoying life. To break the monotony, a friend of mine who was working on her PhD had also started her own production company and had written a short film with myself and other classmate of mine in mind so we spent our free weekends for a few weeks filming that from seven at night to ten the next morning, it was exhausting but worth it. Kaleb Alexander (BFA 2010) and Xuan Fraser (BFA 1994) I learned a lot from that cast, about how to balance a life and a career everyday in the rehearsal room I had to show up to these people or I would be falling flat on my face. I booked Romeo in Romeo and Juliet for Shakespeare in Action and I felt honoured to play such an iconic character and terrified as this was only my first year out of theatre school and everyone sitting at the table for our first reading was so much older and experienced in life and the business. I was lucky enough to book a few commercial gigs but partying became more of an escape from the frustrations of working a joe job rather than a celebration. When September hit it really started to sink in that going out every night wasn’t a totally feasible way of living. I was thankful for my training, in that I was able to focus on the show when I wasn’t out partying to release the stress of finally being done school. While all of that was going on I was adjusting to living downtown with two of my classmates. The summer after fourth year, I toured with Humber River Shakespeare doing Taming of the Shrew. We caught up with Actor Kaleb Alexander (BFA 2010) and he shared some intimate details about his first two years out in the profession: he’s been busy, doing mostly classical theatre, and has had to find balance in his life between work and play. Sunday, dozens of excited regulars have stopped by the small, independent convenience store in New Hampshire that sold the winning Powerball ticket to congratulate the owner and chat about the win, store owner Sam Safa said. Since Reeds Ferry Market opened at 5:30 a.m. (AP) - It’s been a billion-dollar lottery weekend after a lone Powerball ticket sold in New Hampshire matched all six numbers and will claim a $559.7 million jackpot, one day after another single ticket sold in Florida nabbed a $450 million Mega Millions grand prize. But if you only match one white ball, you won’t win anything.ĭid you win something tonight? Let us know in the comments below.MERRIMACK, N.H. If you only match the yellow, you’ll win $2. If you match 4 white only, you’ll win $500. If you match all five white numbers only, you’ll win $1 million (and more if you’re using a Mega plier option.) If you match 4 white and the yellow, you’ll win $10,000. In order to win the jackpot, you’d need to match all five white balls and the yellow Mega ball. On October 28, 2017, Mega Millions increased the cost of buying a ticket from $1 to $2. The odds of winning Mega Millions are 1 in 302.6 million, which are actually less than the odds of winning the Powerball, which is 1 in 292.2 million. Although that court’s ruling isn’t binding in other states, it means that there’s at least a chance that a winner might file a similar lawsuit and win for future jackpots. The winner was able to file a lawsuit and stay anonymous while claiming the winnings through an anonymous trust, even though they had originally signed their winning ticket with their name. Although New Hampshire rules allow people who win games like Powerball to take up to a one year from the draw date to claim their prize, New Hampshire law also requires the winner’s name, town, and amount won be available for public information. The winner may also be required to appear at a news conference or other promotional event, or to have their image used on social media without any additional consent.Īnd there’s always a chance a winner might stay anonymous, thanks to a recent Powerball jackpot winner in New Hampshire. It’s all slightly suspicious, given the compound’s ubiquity in the energy drink universe.ĭearth of scientific studies aside, it’s hard to make the case against taurine. Evidence that taurine alone boosts mental performance and mood is pretty much nonexistent - one small study showed some positive results, but taurine was only assessed in combination with caffeine and glucuronolactone. But there’s little scientific evidence to show that it actually jump-starts the brain.Ī couple of studies in animal models have suggested that taurine has anxiety-reducing effects, which could point to an effect on the brain, but that hasn’t been demonstrated in humans yet. It’s thought that supplementing the body with additional taurine - we already do it every time we consume meat or fish - could add extra fuel to these ongoing processes, providing an overall energy boost. It’s involved in supporting the brain’s development, modulating the contractions of the heart, balancing the levels of water and minerals in the blood, and oiling the central nervous system so it runs smoothly, among other qualities. You can’t blame skeptical fans for making that connection: taurine is an integral part of a chemical concoction that promises to steel you for the day ahead - and is there anything steelier than bull balls? Turns out the answer is, well, yeah the human body naturally produces taurine because it’s necessary for so many physiological processes. Red Bull’s creators have asserted that the taurine in its drinks is completely synthetic. Conspiracy-minded ‘Bull heads have debated whether the taurine in their afternoon pick-me-up is derived, specifically, from bull testicles (in wilder circles, the speculation extends to bull semen and urine), a rumor that probably stemmed from a misunderstanding of what its original source fluid, bile, actually is - the moss-hued slime produced by the gall bladder, anatomical miles away from bull genitalia. Known in scientific circles as 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid, the compound was named after the Latin taurus, for bull, after German scientists isolated it from ox bile in 1827. Sure, taurine can have that effect, but it achieves it through much less direct means.įirst, a bit about taurine itself. Its effects aren’t as straightforward or as well-documented as its energy-boosting partner in crime, which straight-up jacks into the central nervous system to curb drowsiness. Here’s the thing about taurine: It’s not caffeine. Since then, it’s enjoyed a pretty solid reputation as a pick-me-up, but the truth is, there’s no conclusive evidence that it boosts mental or physical performance. Cloze is a really great option when you’re wanting in-depth CRM with social features. So perhaps the issue here is that I was wanting it to be something other than what it is. It’s very good at what it’s supposed to do. Unfortunately, in having so many features, it misses out on the core of being a really great address book. Cloze should also be able to keep your contacts updated, as you have to manually choose to connect to each service. The basis is that it’s focused on social and keeps a score of your relationships. The promise of Cloze is really cool, but using the app proved to be more than what I was wanting. While we agree that every company needs to make money, bi-directional sync is something that fruux could easily handle with better Google account integration. fruux also won’t let you sync your contacts to a device unless you pay the monthly premium. First and foremost, the only way that you can import a list of contacts is via a vcard file, or by entering a contact manually. It has a great ability to sync to multiple devices, it allows you to share your contact lists and it works with eM Client, which is my email client of choice…on Windows.īut it’s also lacking a lot. ![]() Of everything that I’ve tried, fruux is probably the closest to a real address book that I’ve found. While I can open new windows, it just doesn’t seem necessary. On the Chromebook, this is annoying because the entire OS is run inside of a single window with multiple tabs. The other issue with ContactZilla is that it wants to run in its own window. While the base product is very good, users don’t love how it lacks efficient integration with MacOS. The promise here is that you will have painless contact management for your team. But due diligence has its place here, so let’s look at the list:ĬontactZilla – Free, with increased pricing for more shared lists, more users, and device syncing.įruux – Free, then €4 per month for multiple devices and sharing.Ĭontacts+ – Free up to 1,000 contacts, then $8.33 per month for real-time sync, 1,000 scanned business cards and 25,000 contacts.Ĭloze – Free, primarily focused on social CRM. Almost without fail, the apps that are listed under a search for “address book” or “contact management” are ones that dedicate to doing a lot of different tasks. In searching through the Chrome Web Store, there aren’t a lot of options for address books. So it got me thinking – What’s the best online address book for Chrome? Recently we got an email from a guy named Dan who said that the Contacts+ Address Book was a “great utility to set up an address book on the Chromebook.” While that’s certainly a use case that we’d considered, I’ll admit that we haven’t spent much time working toward that as a goal. ![]() Sometimes we get emails that make us feel really great. ![]() No begging, trading, or baiting for copies of the game.
